We are avid readers of Randy Wayne White. We love every page of every book! We've lived in the Apollo Beach & Bradenton area since 1972, and have vacationed at the Castaways almost every year since. Then we began sailing the ICW, and now we travel by trawler. We really enjoy reading about things and places that we know. Well! Now, after having dinner at Doc Ford's Sanibel Rum Bar & Grille we also have fallen in love with the restaurant. We had a neat experience as we were getting ready to leave. We began looking at T-shirts, etc. when a guy asked us how our dinner was. We thought he was waiting for a table. We both gladly opened up and told him how wonderful our dinner was (the best we've ever had in all of our many trips to Sanibel), and then found out that we were talking to Chef Greg. What fun! He not only can cook, but was great fun to talk to also. We can't wait for a return visit. And we can only hope that Randy just might be there to sign a book for us. On a scale of 1-10...Doc Ford's has to be at least a 50!

Randy, Pleasure to meet you at the booksigning at Doc's. My boss, Steven Adler, introduced me to your books several years ago. I purchased everything they had at the Bar and he then kept me up to date each time a release came out. Hunter's Moon was outstanding, look forward to sometype of notification when your next book will be coming out and where you are going to have a signing. Dick

Dear Randy: I can't wait to come to the Ft. Myers area this year and come to the rum bar! I have been a fan of your books since I discovered them 3 years ago. We discovered Ft. Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva around the same time. I have since read almost all of your books and love them. They epitomize what Florida meant to me when I was younger. I have been a sun, sand and surf person for years, but when we come this summer it's going to be more about nature, less about me, thanks to your descriptive passages about the geography, biology, marine life, etc. I want to feel a part of Florida's nature this time. After looking at your personal website, I'm also going to check out the music of Wendy Webb. I am a pianist, and love piano music. I am hoping you will be "in residence" at your restaurant/pub when we come. Oh, one last thing - imagine my joy when I was reading a passage from one of your books (can't remember which one, I had about 5 at a time from the library recently), and discovered that Doc Ford goes to Bonita Bill's! That is my favorite place. I would rather go there and have some fish and a beer than an upscale restaurant! After boating on the gulf our first year there, my aunt and uncle, who live in Ft. Myers, took us to Bonita Bill's. That is truly old Florida to me. Last year I purchased a print by Ed Brown of Bonita Bill's. I was delighted that you apparently like it too. Or is it Doc Ford that likes it??? Hats off to you and your superb writing and knowledge of all things Florida.

My 4yr old son and I recently accompanied my husband to Ft Myers Beach while on business. I was heading to the beach with my RWW book as my husband discovered an interview with RWW in a magazine. I was pleased to learn of Doc Ford's Sanibel Rum Bar and Grille. What a memorable evening we had there. The atmosphere was "just our kind of place" and for once we didn't say "we could have had better at home". The appetizer and ice cream sandwich with the kids meal was a big hit. Your Key-Lime Pie is right up there with The Seven-Mile Grille's in Marathon. We left with souveniers and gifts for my friends who are also admiring fans of RWW novels. Living in St Petersurg, we really enjoy reading about a part of the country where we live and boat. I am currently planning a girls weekend in Sanibel and look forward to visiting Doc Ford's again soon. Thank You!

Doc, Had lunch last week at your place, the tropical salad and cerviche were the best I have ever had hands down. Your resturant was the first meal we ate on the island and all others were compared to it. Can't wait to get back for another round. Keep up the great work. Don and Michele

What a fantastic restaurant! We are from Texas, so we love the kick you give to your food! We live in Pennsylvania now, and were visiting Naples for a business meeting. We happened into your restaurant on accident, but were blown away by the food! The Yucatan shrimp is to die for. If anyone can forward a general recipe, it would be most appreciated. Can't wait to visit again in the future. Also, bought the first two books and looking forward to reading about an area of the country that we have fallen in love with..... Best wishes for the future!

We ate at Doc Ford's Thursday and Friday December 28th and 29th. Liz was so great to us both nights. Liz, I heard from a little bird you are in RWW's next book....you lucky dog. Anway, I bought RWW's new cookbook and can't wait to try the dish I had on Friday: Banana Leaf Snapper. Delicious! And the pina colada you made me was awesome. Those mojitos were great too. Hopefully we can visit my husband's parents there again in the next year. Take care!! Richelle and Eric, Stillwater, OK.

A trip to Sanibel would not be complete without stopping at Doc Ford's for either lunch or dinner, and not to mention a Mojito, or two. You by far, have the best restaurant on the island. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The food is fantastic and I do believe you have the best cuban sandwich I have ever had anywhere. Kudos to all of you for making our frequent stops on Sanibel fun and delicious!! We will be back many times to come, I'm sure.
